I press and hold the programmed button on the rearview mirror while pressing and releasing the corresponding button on the remote control. The LED light on the mirror flashes rapidly, indicating that the remote control has been stored.
If I have multiple BMW vehicles, I repeat the programming steps for each vehicle using the respective remote control and garage door opener receiver.
